GGA Pussy Whipped

Weep For Me Thumbnail

Pussy-whipped, a strange term I remember from my youth. Don't know if it's still used. It referred to a man who was under the thumb of a woman, more specifically, a woman who used her sexual wiles to control and/or cause a man to be sexually and emotionally impotent. Paperbacks were marketed to men and not many men were attracted by the theme of being dominated by a woman, unless it was part of violence, like the Gun Molls or Violent Women who were totally out of control. Perhaps this is why there aren't many of these covers around and John D MacDonald's Weep For Me is such a rarity. The cover was done by Owen Kampen - see below to view the same cover executed by Barye Phillips .

Lovers Are LosersAnother Barye cover. There's the bed, the frustrated guy and the disappointed (?) girl. What do you suppose is going on here?
Splendors of Love ThumbnailOr here? Morning is breaking, the fire has died down and so has the girl. This is a scarce Wisdom House Book from that very short run.
The Ordeal of Private Heath ThumbnailA couple more - perhaps a little different. This is war time Britain and maybe he's just a coward seeking solace from a girl less afraid. Then there is also the German version - see below. No wonder these covers didn't sell well.
